This senior position is responsible for Wayside's kitchen and programs related to meals that are prepared in our kitchen. In this position, the manager coordinates, plans and prepares meals for our 14 Community Meals Program, the Catering Collective, our annual Thanksgiving Dinner, our summer Pop up Picnic series and other special events. The manager plans menus for our meals for kids which meet specific nutritional guidelines. This person will use food donations to plan meals for groups of 25 and more so they must be creative! Other duties include:Reviewing food donations each week and coordinating menus based on donations while managing a small food purchasing budget;working with other staff and community partners to order food and supplies for programs and tracking purchases in a spreadsheet;overseeing the Healthy Kids Snacks Program by communicating with our Snack partners, collecting/requesting reports related to the distribution of snacks, stocking Healthy Snack shelves and responding to requests from potential new partners;kitchen upkeep including equipment, cleaning schedule, tools, and food;supervising a broad and diverse network of kitchen volunteers and entering weekly volunteer hours;working with other staff, planning and problem solving for the various meals programs;coordinating a meal delivery schedule and supervising Community Meals Assistant;coordinating food safety training for volunteers and community partners; overseeing kitchen rentals and other programs that utilize Wayside's kitchen;attending meetings and strategic planning sessions as needed.Requirements:Kitchen management experience/education; knowledge of nutrition and dietary standards a plus;food safety knowledge and training-Serv Safe certification preferredVolunteer/Kitchen staff management;Experience cooking for large numbers;Experience preparing food for delivery;Flexible-able to be creative in planning menus from food donations and last minute adjustments based on available ingredients;Ability to keep volunteers busy with meaningful tasks;Able to teach proper kitchen safety and cooking techniques to volunteers of varying skill levels.Hours:Monday - Friday with occasional weekend/evening shifts required. This job is 36 hours per week, with some flexibility.Compensation:This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $18 per hour.
