United We Can Food Drive sets new record

September 9, 2016
The United Way of Greater Portland set a new record at their annual United We Can Campaign Kickoff and Food Drive on September 9th, collecting 13,729 pounds of food.
This year's event featured a food sculpture contest with participating companies building towering artforms out of canned goods. Sculptures included L.L. Bean's iconic Bean Boot, "Cat One" from Idexx Laboratories, and a replica of Bug Light by CCB Construction. The food from the sculptures, along with many more donations from local companies and organizations, was donated to Wayside Food Programs for distribution to Cumberland County food pantries.
