Initially, no companies in Maine were awarded any Federal funding from the Farmers to Families Program that was established by Congress as part of the CARES Act passed in March. That was until the Maine delegation urged the USDA to re-open the bidding process. The money awarded will be used to purchase fresh produce, diary, and meat from local farmers, which will then be boxed and shared with vulnerable community members.
