Initially, no companies in Maine were awarded any Federal funding from the Farmers to Families Program that was established by Congress as part of the CARES Act passed in March. That was until the Maine delegation urged the USDA to re-open the bidding process. The money awarded will be used to purchase fresh produce, diary, and meat from local farmers, which will then be boxed and shared with vulnerable community members. Wayside Food Programs is proud to be partnering with Native Maine as a recipient of these food boxes and we are honored to get to share local food with our community members. Read More:Bangor Daily News "Feds award $1.35M to Westbrook firm through food program that was set to skip Maine"
