Don't miss the upcoming Universities Fight World Hunger Summit right here in Portland, Maine. Join students, faculty and activists for two days of action-oriented workshops and inspiring presentations on the theme of "Fighting Hunger in a World of Plenty: Shifting Power and Taking Action." This is the first time this global event has been held in the Northeastern United States and, given the density of colleges and universities in the region, plus its long history of food systems activism, this promises to be a large and exciting event. Universities Fighting World Hunger is a coalition of institutions of higher education dedicated to educating students in all disciplines about the causes of hunger and to training and encouraging them to take effective action, both at home and abroad. This event is cosponsored by the University of Southern Maine Food Studies Program, University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Maine Campus Compact. 2019 Universities Fighting World Hunger SummitFriday, March 15 & Saturday, March 16Abromson Community Education Center, University of Southern Maine (map)This is a ticketed event.
