To replenish its shelves during this year's challenging winter, Wayside will hold a three-day food drive March 12-14 that will be hosted by Whole Foods Market, located at 2 Somerset St. in Portland.

Running from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day, the drive will focus on collecting food for families served by Wayside and its partner agencies. Wayside is also seeking volunteers to help at the event.

Wayside Food Programs collects and distributes food to 47 agencies, including soup kitchens, food pantries and other social service providers across Cumberland County. Wayside also runs free community meals at sites in Portland and Westbrook, and three of its own mobile food pantries.

Wayside is in need of the following items: canned beans; peanut butter; canned tuna; rice; kids healthy snacks; mac and cheese; and pasta sauce.
