Last year, Wayside hosted our first summer picnic series to bring neighbors together for food and fun. Many people helped to bring our idea to life by sharing their community gardens. Local food businesses donated treats and community organizations added to the fun with lots of garden tours, games, music, and activities. The Pop Up Picnic series was a highlight of our season in the Portland Community Gardens. The musicians, food vendors, educators, and neighborhood groups set a wonderful, festive and collaborative atmosphere. They furthered our vision to have these important public spaces accessible and enjoyed by everyone.
