Thanksgiving events serve 500 in Portland and Westbrook

The Thanksgiving holiday is in many ways a culmination of Wayside's year round efforts, acting as a celebration of food and community, two things we care deeply about. Our annual Thanksgiving event took place at Portland Club, where this year we served over 250 guests a delicious, made-from-scratch meal in the club's beautiful dining room. Grants to help fight waste and increase healthy food

Wayside Food Programs recently received a $20,000 grant from the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation and a $25,000 grant from the Sam L. Cohen Foundation to reduce food waste and improve nutritional standards for food donated to Cumberland County’s emergency food network. These grants are being used to educate donors about the importance of donating nutritionally sound food to Wayside, which distributes food, free of charge, to more than 40 local soup kitchens, food pantries and social service agencies. Donate to Wayside at Whole Foods Portland December 1-3

Wayside Food Programs' annual Holiday Food Drive for Kids & Families will take place December 1-3 at Whole Foods Market in Portland, Maine. Wayside staff and volunteers will be on hand to collect donations of healthy food items which will be distributed to children and families throughout Cumberland County this holiday season.
