Thank you for taking the time to read our 2018 Impact Report. Each year we gather our thoughts, numbers, pictures and ideas about the work we do in order to share them and highlight the impact that your involvement with Wayside has had on our community. Each year also brings new challenges and fresh insights into the effort to end food insecurity. We realize that our work isn’t simple and that there isn’t one answer to all the issues and problems we set out to solve. Neither is there one approach. Wayside works with seniors and families with young children, with neighborhood associations and social service agencies, with rural and urban food pantries, with schools and businesses – a wide and diverse collection of groups and individuals. That’s why we think of Wayside’s work as a part of a bigger whole: a larger set of efforts and movements designed to limit the impact of poverty on the people of southern Maine while expanding opportunities for people to become engaged by supporting their community through volunteering. As we grow as an organization, expand our reach and develop new initiatives, we rely on our donors, partners and volunteers more than ever to share in these efforts. Thank you for being part of our work and for holding us accountable. We hope that you will enjoy learning about the amazing impact of your support in this year’s report. John S.
